TRANSPARENCY

AI Usage Disclosure

Intro

As an AI consultant, I advocate for transparency about where AI is used in producing something. The goal is that people should know how/if AI played a material role in work they are interacting with, especially when it affects authorship, their decisions, personal data or trust.

While it may be overkill for a site like mine, I feel strongly it should be part of my working cadence so I created this page accordingly.

I believe a good disclosure answers three questions:

  • If AI contributed meaningfully, how?
  • What did a human review, decide, and remain responsible for?
  • Is AI operating in the experience now, and does it use visitor data?

I apply that standard here.

AI usage in building this site

The logo: The AI for Arts and Culture wordmark was initially created by AI at my direction, as were iterations of font choices and type layout which I directed and eventually chose from. I then pulled the final logo into Adobe Illustrator to create final files for printing and web by hand.

The site's design: The design, brand, color scheme, fonts, content and very existence of this site were all my own creative output, much of it hand-sketched and then entered into AI where I iterated pieces using AI. Interpreting the design into a design system which I could leverage via Codex and Claude Code for the site buildout was AI assisted and human edited.

The site's content: Meticulously written by me. Editorial drafts through Claude because I don’t naturally write “marketing speak” and am far too longwinded.

The site's code: Codex authored the code with substantial input from me throughout. Site architecture high-level was mostly mine (which tools to use, technical constraints, all UX and pageflow) with AI input in places.

Overall: The site emerges as 95% my own thought in terms of how it looks, reads, functions, is designed. The code emerges 100% from Codex GPT Sol 5.6. The security and WCAG AA accessibility and GDPR data handling and AEO/GEO/SEO optimization were all spearheaded by me and AI worked at my meticulous direction.

Where AI was used, I directed the work, evaluated and revised the outputs, made the final editorial, design, and technical decisions, and remain responsible for every pixel.

This website does not currently include visitor-facing generative AI, automated advice or decisions, personalization, or AI-based profiling. If that changes, this disclosure will change too.
