Discovery & Roadmap
A focused discovery-and-roadmapping engagement: I get to know your organization, and leadership sees where AI belongs, where it doesn't, and what to prioritize first.
AI projects aren't traditional IT projects. The best ones emerge through fast try/learn/try/learn loops. Someone who knows the business (you) and someone who knows the tools (me), in the room together.
Innovation partnership.
I'm a full-time AI practitioner and technologist who comes from the arts. You're full-time arts and culture professionals with hard problems to solve.
"Hey, consultant! Go build us this magic button thing." (Traditional IT project speak).
That will get you a button to push. But with AI, the real benefit isn't the button, it's knowing how to keep the button working, and how to build more of them yourselves.
I'm not a typical consultant. I loathe handing clients a black box that keeps them dependent on me. Don’t worry, I'm all about getting it done — but collaboratively. Buttons and skills, built at the same time in your team.
Three reasons:
A focused discovery-and-roadmapping engagement: I get to know your organization, and leadership sees where AI belongs, where it doesn't, and what to prioritize first.
I lead hands-on AI implementation that fits the work exactly — R&D, standing up the right AI solutions, try/learn loops, staff enablement, build, documentation, delivery. When I leave, your team knows how and when and why to run it because we built it together.
Governance formation and rollout: policy, practice, training, and clear decision rights that make AI governance a living habit, not a policy that dies on the shelf. Motion and habit — never frozen in time.
You know AI matters but having the bandwidth to lead the change is another thing. I bring fifteen years of tech executive leadership at Tessitura with me, helping hundreds of cultural organizations with their technology and business strategy. Now I’m AI. Bring me in on any tech leadership front (covertly or overtly). I’m here to help.
What's driving the ask for AI help? What outcomes do you want, who does it affect, and how soon? Usually covered in the RFP or onboarding discussions.
I spend time with your teams, understanding their work, systems, data, risks and vibe about AI. This is 1000% worthwhile and pays dividends across the whole engagement. From this base, I create a deeply informed AI roadmap that connects the next steps for your organization with current-state tech. I don't leave until you understand the findings and know what to do with them. Usually quoted separately, as phase 1.
Put the right fix to work — usually by exploring tools you already have, sometimes with something built for the purpose. Tested and adjusted with the people who'll use it. This is where the player-coach role kicks in: your expertise meets mine, we make something that works, and you know how to run (and write) the playbook when I leave. Usually quoted as a monthly retainer with goals and checkpoints.
You end up with a team better at AI leverage than when I arrived, running the work themselves. My goal is to do this while building, rather than as a formal handoff. Some projects do benefit from a formal handoff and training. To be discussed.
No conversation is too small or too big. It's low-key discovery in both directions.
